Samora Smallwood To Co-Star With Matthew Sauvé In Canadian Addiction Drama Series ‘Disrepair’

Deadline reports that Samora Smallwood will co-star with One Night Stand actor Matthew Sauvé in Disrepair, a limited series about his experiences with addiction. Bell Canada‘s streaming channel TV1 is the commissioning network. Tommy James Murphy (Last Resort) will also star in the series.

Filming on the redemption story is set to begin in the small town of Oshawa, Canada, where the series is set, and the Toronto area later this spring. A fall launch date has been set.

The story follows Jake Thomas (Sauvé), who, after years of going in and out of rehabs, is determined not to relapse, but must confront the damaged family relationships his addiction has caused. Murphy plays younger brother James, while Smallwood is Erica, Jake’s wife and mother to their child, who is concerned about the future of their marriage.

Co-creators are Sauvé, Murphy and Andrew Ravindran (Friendly Visit), who is directing. They produce the series under their newly formed banner, RavinMurph Pictures.

Canadian songwriter Simon Wilcox, known for the Twilight soundtrack and Nick Jonas’ song ‘Jealous’ has been tapped to create original music.

Smallwood currently recurs as Monica Hill on Hallmark Channel original series The Way Home. She previously recurred on the OWN TV series The KIngs of Napa. Other TV credits includes guest appearances on Designated Survivor, The Expanse, American Gods, Star Trek: Discovery and Murdoch Mysteries. She won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Lead Actress in a television film or miniseries at the 10th Canadian Screen Awards in 2022 for her performance in the Lifetime television film Death She Wrote. She will next be seen in the Apple TV+ series The Big Cigar, which follows Huey P. Newton's life.
