Exclusive: Charlie Day and Jenny Slate talk Amazon Prime's Romantic Comedy ‘I Want You Back’
Now playing exclusively on Prime Video is the romantic comedy I Want You Back, directed by Jason Orley and starring Charlie Day, Jenny Slate, Scott Eastwood, Manny Jacinto, Clark Backo, Gina Rodriguez, Mason Gooding, Dylan Gelula, Jami Gertz, Isabel May and Luke David Blumm.
Peter (Charlie Day) and Emma (Jenny Slate) are total strangers, but when they meet, one thing instantly bonds them: they were both unexpectedly dumped by their respective partners, Anne (Gina Rodriguez) and Noah (Scott Eastwood), on the same weekend. As the saying goes, “misery loves company,” but their commiseration turns into a mission when they see on social media that their exes have happily moved on to new romances, Anne with Logan (Manny Jacinto) and Noah with Ginny (Clark Backo).
Terrified that, in their 30s, they have lost their shot at happily ever after and horrified at the prospect of having to start over, Peter and Emma hatch a desperate plot to win the loves of their lives back. Each will do whatever it takes to put an end to their exes’ new relationships and send them running back to their arms.
Day is best known for playing Charlie Kelly on the sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. In 2020, he co-created the Apple TV+ comedy series Mythic Quest alongside Rob McElhenney and Megan Ganz. In film, he is known for his roles in Horrible Bosses (2011) and its 2014 sequel, as well as for his roles in Monsters University, Pacific Rim, The Lego Movie, Fist Fight, Pacific Rim: Uprising, and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.
Slate is known for her leading performance in the coming-of-age comedy-drama film Obvious Child, for which she won the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Actress in a Comedy and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and Gotham Independent Film Award. She lent voice performances to the animated films Zootopia, The Secret Life of Pets, and The Lego Batman Movie.
