The series is inspired by the New York Magazine article “How an Aspiring ‘It’ Girl Tricked New York’s Party People — and its Banks” by Jessica Pressler, who also serves as a producer.

Best known for playing Tia Clayton in Freeform's The Bold Type, Alexis Floyd plays Neff, the fictional version of Neffatari Davis and one of Anna’s closest friends. Even during Anna’s darkest times, Neff is there for her, despite objections from the other friends Anna lost.
Widely known for his role as Stewy Hosseini in HBO's Succession, Arian Moayed plays Todd Spodek, Anna’s attorney. His other TV credits include Madam Secretary as Mohammed "Mo" Alwash and Love Life as Kian Parsa. He was also featuring in the blockbuster film Spider-Man: No Way Home.
