Exclusive: Anthony Mackie And Damson Idris Talk Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Outside The Wire’
Hitting Netflix on Jan. 15 is the sci-fi thriller Outside the Wire, which stars Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) Damson Idris (Snowfall, Black Mirror), Emily Beecham (Into the Badlands, Hail, Caesar!), Michael Kelly (House of Cards, Jack Ryan), Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones, Overlord).
Directed by Mikael Håfström (Escape Plan) from a script written by Rob Yescombe and Rowan Athale, a drone pilot (Idris) is sent into a deadly militarized zone and finds himself partnered with an android officer (Mackie) on a mission to stop a doomsday device.
Mackie produces the film with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones for Automatik, Ben Pugh and Erica Steinberg for 42, and Jason Spire for Inspire Entertainment. Executive producers are Josh Horsfield, Fred Berger for Automatik, Rory Aitken for 42 and David U. Lee for Leeding Media. Charlie Morrison is a co-producer for 42.
BlackFilmandTV.com’s Wilson Morales recently spoke with Mackie and Idris regarding their roles in the film. Mackie will next be seen in Marvel’s The Falcon and Winter Soldier for Disney+, while Idris will be seen reprising his role as drug dealer Franklin Saint in Season 4 of FX’s Snowfall.
