Exclusive: Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton & Brandon Bell talk Dear White People Vol 4: The Final Season

Coming out this week on Netflix is the fourth and final season for Dear White People, premiering on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Adapted from the 2014 film of the same name by acclaimed creator Justin Simien, Dear White People follows a group of socially conscience Black students navigating cultural biases, misguided activism and injustice on their predominately white Ivy league campus. The series stars Logan Browning, Brandon P. Bell, Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, John Patrick Amedori, Ashley Blaine Featherson and Marque Richardson.

Set against the backdrop of senior year at Winchester as well as a not-so-distant, post-pandemic future, Dear White People Vol. 4 finds our characters looking back at the most formative (and theatrical) year of their lives. Both an Afro-futuristic and 90s-inspired musical event, Dear White People Vol. 4 is a can't-miss, farewell experience with one pitch-perfect promise: sometimes the only way to move forward is to throw it back

This trio learned who was in their corner during the season finale. BlackFilmandTV.com correspondent Danteé Ramos sat down with Deron Horton (Lionel Higgins), Antoinette Robertson (Coco Conners), and Brandon P. Bell (Troy Fairbanks). Roberston shared that she keeps her circle small but also grants people grace when things go sideways. Horton opens up about how far removed his character Lionel is from him in real life. Horton also believes no one should hide behind anything or anyone, he says "Don't worried about fitting in when you're custom made". Brandon P. Bell who plays Troy shares how he has a fuller picture of his character after this closing season.
