Exclusive: Caleb Landry Jones & Jojo T Gibbs talk Luc Besson's Dogman
Hitting theaters on March 29 from Briarcliff Entertainment is writer-director Luc Besson’s latest film, DogMan, starring Caleb Landry Jones stars as its fragile yet resilient protagonist who bends societal rules as he makes his own way. The cast also includes Christopher Denham, Marisa Berenson, Michael Garza, and Jojo T. Gibbs. Produced by Virginie Besson-Silla, the film premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival last year.
Caleb Landry Jones stars as Douglas, a man who was abused as a child by his violent father and viciously thrown to dogs. Instead of attacking him, all the dogs came to protect him and became his allies. On a journey to heal from childhood trauma and physical injury, Douglas seeks to find his own path, even if it means bending societal rules, gender and going overboard with his love of dogs.
Caleb Landry Jones recently wrapped shooting the lead role in the U.K. drama HARVEST from Greek director Athina Rachel Tsangari. Caleb won Best Actor at the 2021 Cannes film festival for his performance in NITRAM where he played the title role. Prior to that, he shot THE FORGIVEN with Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain, directed by John Michael McDonagh. He also did FINCH opposite Tom Hanks. He recently starred in THE OUTPOST, directed by Rod Luri. Other films include Jim Jarmush’s THE DEAD DON’T DIE and Lone Sherfig’s newest project THE KINDNESS OF STRANGERS, which opened last year’s Berlin Film Festival. Notable film credits include Martin McDonagh’s Oscar nominated THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI opposite Fran McDormand and Sam Rockwell, Jordan Peele’s Oscar nominated directorial debut GET OUT and Sean Baker’s THE FLORIDA PROJECT opposite Willem Dafoe.
Gibbs will next be seen opposite Kirsten Dunst in Alex Garland’s next film CIVIL WAR for A24 and DIRTY ANGELS opposite Eva Green for director, Martin Campbell. Earlier this year, her film CORA BORA premiered at SXSW where she plays the love interest to Megan Stalter. Prior to this, Jojo made waves for her scene stealing performance in FRESH opposite Daisy Edgar-Jones & Sebastian Stan as well as starring opposite Zoey Deutch in SOMETHING AT TIFFANY’s. Jojo came played the lead in Lena Waithe’s BET+ series TWENTIES which premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. Gibbs is currently producing and starring in her digital series NO MORE COMICS IN LA.
