Exclusive: Carl Lumbly on reprising his role as Isaiah Bradley in Captain America: Brave New World
Hitting theaters on Feb. 14 from Marvel Studios is Captain America: Brave New World, directed by Julius Onah and starring Anthony Mackie.
Mackie stars as Sam Wilson, who has taken over as the new Cap from Steve Rogers after he retired at the end of the Avengers movies. Brave New World picks up with Harrison Ford as the US president, with the power dynamics in the world changing. After an attack, Cap is asked to join the military - it's not long before he's right in the middle of an international incident. The cast also includes Giancarlo Esposito, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, Liv Tyler, and Xosha Roquemore.
After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford), Sam (Anthony Mackie) finds himself in the middle of an international incident - a mysterious attack. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot against the world leaders before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.
Lumbly returns to the role of Isaiah Bradley, the Korean war hero and sole survivor of African American soldiers subjected to Super Soldier serum experiments during the 1950s. He first played the role in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+.
According to his wikipedia page, Lumbly is best known for M.A.N.T.I.S., which made him the first black superhero on television. He has also had television roles on Cagney & Lacey (1982–1988) and Alias (2001–2006). He has also had roles in various superhero franchises including voicing Martian Manhunter in the DC Animated Universe (DCAU) and playing M'yrnn J'onzz on The CW's Supergirl (2017–2019) set in the Arrowverse.
