Exclusive: Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Keegan-Michael Key talk Transformers One
Hitting theaters on Sept. 20 is the animated film Transformers One, directed by Josh Cooley (Toy Story 4) and with an ensemble voice cast that includes Chris Hemsworth as Optimus, Brian Tyree Henry as Megatron, Scarlett Johansson as Elita, Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, with Jon Hamm, Laurence Fishburne, and Steve Buscemi.
"Every Transformer has an origin." Transformers One is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever.
The screenplay is written by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari. Produced by Michael Bay, Aaron Dem, Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy, and Mark Vahradian.
Best known for his role as Thor in the Marvel films, Hemsworth was last seen this summer playing Dementus in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, opposite Anya Taylor-Joy. His previous film credits include Extraction 2 and Spiderhead.
Henry was seen earlier this year in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and voiced the character of Jeff Morales in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. He’s best known for his role as rapper Alfred "Paper Boi" Miles in the FX comedy-drama series Atlanta (2016–2022), for which he received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Henry was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for playing a grieving man in the drama film Causeway (2022).
Key recently starred in the musical comedy series Schmigadoon! (2021–2023). He also had voice roles in If, Migration, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Wendell & Wild, and Pinocchio.
