Exclusive: Damien D. Smith talks Neal Tyler's Psychological Thriller film Driftwood
Currently on Video-On-Demand from Octane Multimedia is writer-director Neal Tyler's psychological thriller film Driftwood, starring Jen Kuhn, Justin Michael Terry, Kevin Knight, Damien D. Smith, Debrah Lee Smith, Thomas Washworth, Gina Cunningham, and Percy Coiro.
A woman enters an experimental treatment that creates a shared subconscious with her estranged husband. But when a mysterious and hostile presence sabotages the system, she must navigate a labyrinth of nightmares to save her husband and escape.
Damien D. Smith is best known for his role as Top Notch in the FX drama series Snowfall. He also appeared opposite Will Smith in Antoine Fuqua's Emancipation. Other acting credits include The Purge, Young Rock, A Short Break, and Born Again Virgin to name a few.
As a director, Smith has helmed the award-winning film Target: St. Louis Vol. 1, which won Best Documentary at the 2021 Urbanworld Film Festival. The film tells the story of the African Americans who survived the secret chemical testing conducted by the US Military in Northern St. Louis after World War II. He also directed the docu-series, Detangling The South, which played at Cannes International Cinema Festival. Smith’s short film, Daddy’s Big Girl, won the 2018 Filmmaker of the year at Gentleman Jack Reel to Real Short Film Competition. He also is the winner of the Arts with Impact Grand Prize Award for his short About That.
The actor, writer and director founded 4910 Rosalie Productions, where he is currently Creative Director. 4910 has partnered with social justice organizations across the country in collaborations infusing storytelling with grassroots organizing and issue based campaign work.
