Exclusive: Director Edgar Wright On Exploring Psychological Thriller Genre With ‘Last Night In Soho’
Now playing in theaters is Edgar Wright’s Last Night In Soho, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie, Matt Smith, Terence Stamp, Diana Rigg, Rita Tushingham, Michael Ajao, and Synnøve Karlsen.
In acclaimed director Edgar Wright’s psychological thriller, Eloise, an aspiring fashion designer, is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters a dazzling wannabe singer, Sandie. But the glamour is not all it appears to be and the dreams of the past start to crack and splinter into something far darker.
For Wright, who’s best known for directing comedy films such as Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and The World's End, he started to shift gears when he did Baby Driver. With Last Night in Soho, he’s diving into a genre he hasn’t tackled before and with no comedic flare. In speaking with BlackFilmandTV.com’s Wilson Morales, Wright talks about the film, working with his two leads and working the late Diana Rigg, who passed away not long after completing this film.
