Exclusive: Director Menhaj Huda talks Showtime's Heist 88

Playing on Showtime from MTV Entertainment Studios and Bassett Vance Productions is Heist 88, directed by Menhaj Huda (Kidulthood) and starring Courtney B. Vance, Keesha Sharp, Keith David, Bentley Green, Xavier Clyde, Nican Robinson and Precious Way.

Inspired by true events, HEIST 88 is the unbelievable story centered on Jeremy Horne (Vance), the criminal mastermind with an innate ability to convince anyone to do just about anything and who decides to pull one last job before going to prison. He recruits four young bank employees to steal close to $80 million dollars in a daring and brazen assault on the U.S. banking system. The film takes place in a time before widespread computerization and the vast cybersecurity of today.

The film reunites Vance with Keesha Sharp, who portrayed Dale Cochran in the award-winning limited series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, and Bentley Green, who recently starred alongside Vance in the drama series 61st Street.

Menhaj Huda is an award winning British Film and TV director, based in Los Angeles, best known for the UK urban hit, Kidulthood. His first feature film "Kidulthood", which he also produced, won the Best Feature Film at the Race In Media Awards 2006 and Best Screenplay Award at Dinard Film Festival. He won the Douglas Hickox Award at BIFA in 2006 for Best Debut Director. Having relocated to Los Angeles in 2017 he has been directing both high end episodic TV like the CW’s “The Flash,” “Charmed” and “Batwoman,” as well as ABC’s “Queens” to name a few.
