Exclusive: Gerard Butler, O’Shea Jackson Jr., director Christian Gudegast & producer Tucker Tooley talk Den of Thieves 2: Pantera
Hitting theaters on Jan. 10 from Lionsgate is the long awaited sequel Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, directed once again by director Christian Gudegast and starring Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr.
Written by Gudegast, the cast also includes Michael Bisping, Salvatore Esposito, Orli Shuka, Evin Ahmad, Cristian Solimeno, and Nazmiye Oral.
Actors Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson Jr. return in the sequel to 2018's action-heist hit Den of Thieves. In Den of Thieves: Pantera, sheriff "Big Nick" O'Brien (Butler) is back on the hunt in Europe and closing in on Donnie (Jackson), who is embroiled in the treacherous and unpredictable world of diamond thieves and the infamous Panther mafia, as they plot a massive heist of the world’s largest diamond exchange.
Based on characters first created by Christian Gudegast & Paul Scheuring, the film was produced by 50 Cent, Gerard Butler, Mark Canton, Alan Siegel, and Tucker Tooley. A TT Entertainment production. An eOne Features production. A G-Base and Diamond Film Productions production.
Butler recently voiceed St. Nick in the Universal animated film The Night Before Christmas In Wonderland (opposite Emilia Clarke), currently streaming on Hulu and Amazon. Butler will star in Julian Schnabel’s crime thriller In The Hand Of Dante opposite Oscar Isaac and Jason Momoa. Finally, he recently wrapped production on Greenland: Migration, the sequel to Greenland which again reunited him with the director of Angel Has Fallen, Ric Roman Waugh.
O’Shea Jr. was recently seen starring in “Obi Wan-Kenobi” for Disney+ opposite Joel Edgerton, Ewan McGregor, and Moses Ingram. He also starred in Apple TV’s “Swagger,” inspired by Kevin Durant’s youth basketball experiences in the AAU league. His previous film credits include Cocaine Bear, Just Mercy, and Long Shot.
Besides producing and directing Den of Thieves and Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, Gudegast also wrote A Man Apart, The Rundown, and London Has Fallen, among others. He will next be writing and directing Mafia X for Thunder Road.
As a producer, Tooley’s films have earned more than $2.55 billion at the worldwide box office. He is CEO of Tucker Tooley Entertainment, a prominent film and television finance and production company established by Tooley and Greg Renker in 2016.
