Exclusive: Hit Man cast interviews with Glen Powell, Adria Arjona, Retta, Sanjay Rao and Richard Linklater

Coming to Netflix on June 7 after playing in theaters is the romantic comedy Hit Man, directed by Richard Linklater and starring Glen Powell, Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, Retta, Sanjay Rao, Molly Bernard, and Evan Holtzman.

Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater's sunlit neo-noir stars Glen Powell as strait-laced professor Gary Johnson, who moonlights as a fake hit man for the New Orleans Police Department. Preternaturally gifted at inhabiting different guises and personalities to catch hapless people hoping to bump off their enemies, Gary descends into morally dubious territory when he finds himself attracted to one of those potential criminals, a beautiful woman named Madison (Adria Arjona). As she falls for one of Gary's hit man personas — the mysteriously sexy Ron — their steamy affair sets off a chain reaction of play acting, deception, and higher stakes.

The screenplay is written by Richard Linklater & Glen Powell; based on the Texas Monthly article by Skip Hollandsworth. This initially premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival.

Powell most recently starred alongside Sydney Sweeney in Sony’s romantic comedy and international box office hit Anyone But You, which grossing over $200 million worldwide. He will also soon be seen in Universal’s highly anticipated action film Twisters directed by Lee Isaac Chung, a new chapter to the 1996 box office hit Twister.

Arjona recently starred as “Bix Caleen” in the Disney+ hit series, Andor, a prequel to Star Wars’ Rogue One film. She also played a recurring role in HBO’s True Detective Season 2, Netflix’s Narcos and HBO’s Irma Vep, a limited series based on Olivier Assayas’ 1996 feature film.

Retta is best known for her roles of Donna Meagle on NBC's Parks and Recreation and Ruby Hill on NBC's Good Girls. She has appeared in several films and television shows, and has performed stand-up on Comedy Central's Premium Blend.

Linklater is known for his films that include Slacker, Dazed and Confused, Before Sunrise & Sunset & Midnight, SubUrbia, The Newton Boys, Waking Life, Tape, School of Rock, Bad News Bears, Fast Food Nation, A Scanner Darkly, Me and Orson Welles, Bernie, Boyhood, Everybody Wants Some!!, and Last Flag Flying.
