Exclusive: Jamie Dornan, Caitriona Balfe talk Kenneth Branagh's Belfast and singing 'Everlasting Love'
Now playing in theaters in critically acclaimed film Belfast from writer-director and Academy Award nominee Kenneth Branagh.
Starring Caitriona Balfe, Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan, Ciaran Hinds, and introducing Jude Hill, BELFAST is a coming-of-age drama set during the tumult of late-1960s Northern Ireland. The film follows young Buddy (Jude Hill) as he navigates a landscape of working-class struggle, sweeping cultural changes, and sectarian violence. Buddy dreams of a glamorous future that will whisk him far from the Troubles, but, in the meantime, he finds consolation in his charismatic Pa (Jamie Dornan) and Ma (Caitríona Balfe), and his spry, tale-spinning grandparents (Ciarán Hinds and Judi Dench).
Belfast had its world premiere at the 48th Telluride Film Festival on 2 September 2021, and also won the People's Choice Award at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival. Best known in the States for his role as Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades franchise, Dornan was born in Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland, and grew up in the suburbs of Belfast.
As for Caitriona Balfe, she is best known for her starring role as Claire Fraser in the Starz drama series Outlander and appeared opposite Christian Bale in Ford v. Ferrari.
