Exclusive: Jim True-Frost and Lance Reddick talk The Wire 20th Anniversary
With The Wire celebrating its 20th anniversary, Blackfilmandtv.com has had the pleasure of speaking with numerous actors from the groundbreaking series. So many faces started or jump-started the careers on the show. It’s not that often folks can still watch a show from eons ago like it came out yesterday, and yet this show can last forever.
With as many shows that are on TV, cable and streaming these days, it’s really hard not only to entertain but sustain an audience, and yet with this show, as younger viewers now starting to catch on - as the saying goes, “Everything old is new again.”
As of the actors we caught up with, Jim True-Frost and Lance Reddick were two that were happy to speak and reflect of their time on the show. Frost played Det. Roland ‘Prez” Pryzbylewski, who lasted on all five seasons and eventually turned in his badge to become a school teacher. True-Frue would later go on to appear as a guest actor on numerous TV shows and had a recurring role on HBO’s Treme. He recently appeared in an episode on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
As for Lance Reddick, who played Lt. Cedric Daniels and has since been many TV shows and films, what is it that the Baltimore, MD native says no to? He’s been on a lot, which says how much of a demand his services are needed. From Law & Order episodes, Fringe and the upcoming Resident Evil Netflix series to his film roles on Tennessee with Mariah Carey, White House Down, Little Woods, the John Wick franchise films and the Angel Has Fallen, and Regina King’s One Night in Miami, Reddick is the one of the best actors still working.
Blackfilmandtv.com’s Wilson Morales caught up with True-Frost and Redick as they reflected on the 20th anniversary.
