Exclusive: Joseph Gordon-Levitt on creating, writing, directing and starring in Apple TV+ series Mr. Corman

Coming out this week on on Apple TV+ is “Mr. Corman,” by Creator, Writer, Executive Producer & Star Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The serieswill premiere globally on August 6, 2021 with the first two episodes of the ten-episode first season, followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday.

"Mr. Corman" follows the days and nights of Josh Corman (played by Gordon-Levitt), an artist at heart but not by trade. A career in music hasn’t panned out, and he teaches fifth grade at a public school in the San Fernando Valley. His ex-fiancé Megan has moved out, and his high school buddy Victor has moved in. He knows he has a lot to be thankful for, but finds himself struggling nevertheless through anxiety, loneliness, and a sinking suspicion that he sucks as a person. Darkly funny, oddly beautiful, and deeply heartfelt, this relatable dramedy speaks for our contemporary generation of 30-somethings: rich with good intentions, poor with student loans, and yearning to become real grown-ups sometime before they die.

Gordon-Levitt is best known for his lead and supporting roles in numerous films and TV series such as 3rd Rock from the Sun, Angels in the Outfield, 10 Things I Hate About You, Miracle at St. Anna, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Inception, 500 Days of Summer, The Walk, Don Jon, which he wrote, directed and starred in, Snowden, and more recently The Trial of the Chicago 7.

BlackFilmandTV.com’s Wilson Morales caught up with Gordon-Levitt as he spoke about wearing many hats as the creator, executive producer, writer, director and star of the series.
