Karen Pittman plays Dr. Nya Wallace Nya is a professor at Columbia Law School. She teaches Miranda's law class and the two become friends, despite an awkward initial meeting where Miranda didn't realize Nya was the professor of the class because she looked different than her photo on the faculty website. They continue to bump into eachother on the subway and Miranda helps fight off someone who tried to steal Nya's bag. Nya initially seems wary of Miranda but she grows on her and they start to bond over Miranda's "old school" ways.

Pittman has also appeared in Yellowstone, where she recurred as Willa Hays and The Morning Show, where she plays Mia Jordan and was nominated for a SAG award, along with the cast in 2022

She is married to a hedge fund banker named Herbert. She seems close with Charlotte, as their kids both take piano lessons together.

Parker, who played the leading role of attorney Teri Joseph (later Carter) in the Showtime drama series Soul Food, recently had a recurring role in NBC’s Chicago P.D.. Other TV projects include the short-lived UPN romantic comedy Second Time Around, the ABC drama Time After Time, and Fox's prime-time soap opera Empire.
