Premiering on Disney+ March 19 is Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier,” featuring fan-favorites Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as Falcon and Winter Soldier, whose oil-and-water dynamic has entertained audiences since 2016’s “Avengers: Civil War.”

All eyes are on the shield, as Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, and Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier decide to team up—or rather, work together—when a new global threat launches them into an unexpected mission that may hit too close to home.

Directed by Kari Skogland with Malcolm Spellman serving as head writer, the six-episode series also stars Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Adepero Oduye as Sarah Wilson and Daniel Brühl as Zemo.

For Skogland, who’s a veteran of directing numerous TV series, this is not her first venture in the Marvel world. She had directed an episode of The Punisher for Netflix. Here she’s directing all six episodes. Her past credits include directing the Showtime’s miniseries “The Loudest Voice in the Room,” Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” as well as episodes of “Penny Dreadful,” “The L Word,” “The Borgias,” “Queer as Folk,” “The Americans,” “House of Cards,” “Boardwalk Empire,” “The Walking Dead,” and “Fear the Walking Dead.”

In speaking with BlackFilmandTV.com’s Wilson Morales, Skogland talks about getting into the Marvel universe and learning as much as she can and adding action and excitement that fans want to see.
