Hitting US theaters on December 22nd and on HBO Max from Warner Bros. is The Matrix Resurrections, the long-awaited fourth film in the Matrix universe, the groundbreaking franchise that redefined a genre. The Matrix Resurrections reunites original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss as Neo and Trinity, the iconic roles they made famous in The Matrix.
Also starring are Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci, Telma Hopkins, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Brian J. Smith, and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Directed by Lana Wachowski, the movie was written by Lana Wachowski & David Mitchell & Aleksander Hemon. It is based on characters created by The Wachowskis.
Reeves been doing action films for over 30 years, even before the Matrix films with lead roles in Point Break and Speed, and after the Matrix trilogy with Street Kings, 47 Ronin, and then the John Wick films. With some romantic dramas in between such as The Lake House and Destination Wedding, it was reuniting with Carrie-Anne Moss and the chemistry they shared as actors on the Matrix films that brought him back to work with Lana Wachowski again.
As for Moss, although she was last seen playing Jeri Hogarth in several television series produced by Marvel Television for Netflix, most notably Jessica Jones, it was the role of Trinity that launched her career and the one that most people identify her with.
BlackFilmandTV.com’s Wilson Morales recently spoke with Reeves and Moss on their return to the franchise and whether they were physically prepared for the roles again.
