Exclusive: Kelly Rowland, Trevante Rhodes, and RonReaco Lee talk Tyler Perry's Mea Culpa
Hitting Netflix on Feb. 23 is Tyler Perry’s Mea Culpa, the latest film from writer-director Tyler Perry starring Kelly Rowland and Trevante Rhodes.
The cast also includes Nick Sagar, Sean Sagar, RonReaco Lee, Shannon Thornton, Kerry O'Malley and Angela Robinson.
When criminal defense attorney Mea Harper (Kelly Rowland) takes on the murder case of artist Zyair Malloy (Trevante Rhodes), the truth isn't as obvious as it seems. While she tries to determine the innocence or guilt of her cagy-yet-seductive client, it is uncovered that everyone is guilty of something. Tyler Perry’s Mea Culpa explores what happens when burning desire takes hold and things get hot… and dangerous.
The film was produced by Tyler Perry, Dianne Ashford, Will Areu, Angi Bones, and Kelly Rowland.
For Rowland, this marks her first collaboration with Perry. The four-time Grammy winning musician-turned-actor has starred in such films as “Think Like A Man,” “Bad Hair” and “The Curse of Bridge Hollow,” with appearances on TV series including “L.A.’s Finest,” “American Soul,” “Empire” and more. She most recently appeared in “Fantasy Football,” with Marsai Martin and on a season 3 episode of Queen Latifah’s “The Equalizer.” Rowland also serves as an executive producer on the “Merry Liddle Christmas” series, in which she stars for Lifetime.
Rhodes is best known for his work in Barry Jenkins’ Best Picture winner “Moonlight” who has also been seen in the films “Bruiser,” Lee Daniels’ “The United States vs. Billie Holiday,” “Bird Box,” “The Predator” and “12 Strong.” He recently portrayed Mike Tyson in Hulu’s miniseries “Mike” and has also been seen on shows like “Westworld.”
Lee is best known for his role as Reggie Vaughn in the LeBron James-executive produced Starz series “Survivor's Remorse.” His film credits include Netflix’s “Coffee & Kareem” and “Nappily Ever After.” Recent TV credits include “First Wives Club” with Jill Scott, and “Queens” with Naturi Naughton.
