Exclusive: Lady Gaga talks House of Gucci & doing research on Patrizia Reggiani without meeting her

Hitting theaters on November 24 from MGM is Ridley Scott’s forthcoming crime drama House of Gucci, starring Oscar winner Lady Gaga, Oscar nominee Adam Driver, Oscar winners Jared Leto, Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons

House of Gucci is inspired by the shocking true story of the family empire behind the Italian fashion house of Gucci. Spanning three decades of love, betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately murder, we see what a name means, what it’s worth, and how far a family will go for control.

House of Gucci is led by Lady Gaga as Maurizio Gucci’s ex-wife, who was tried and convicted for orchestrating her ex-husband’s murder on the steps of his office in 1995. Despite her children’s pleas to the court and public to reevaluate her mother’s case as the operation drastically changed her behavior, she was portrayed darkly in the media, being dubbed the Black Widow, and was sentenced to 29 years before being let out early in 2016 after only 18 years.

The film also stars Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci, Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci, Jared Leto as Paolo Gucci, Jeremy Irons as Rodolf Gucci, Jack Huston as Domenico De Sole, Reeve Carney as Tom Ford, Salma Hayek as Giuseppina Auiremma, Camille Cottin as Paola Franchi, Mădălina Diana Ghenea as Sophia Loren, Mehdi Nebbou as Said, and Miloud Mourad Benamara as Omar.

Based on Sara Gay Forden’s 2001 novel The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, the film is directed by Ridley Scott from a screenplay written by Roberto Bentivegna and Becky Johnston.

For Gaga, who was Oscar nominated for Best Actress in Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born and won an Academy Award for Best Song (“Shallow”), she recently spoke with BlackFilmandTV.com’s Wilson Morales about her role and doing research on Patrizia Reggiani without meeting her.
