Exclusive: Lamman Rucker, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Elise Neal & Blac Chyna talk Carl Weber's The Black Hamptons
BET+ recently aired its new four-part original limited series, Carl Weber’s The Black Hamptons, executive produced by Nikaya D. Brown Jones for Tri Destined Studios and Carl Weber for Urban Books Media.
Based on a novel by The New York Times best-selling author Carl Weber, the show is a new family drama set in the quaint town of Sag Harbor, known as “The Black Hamptons,” in Long Island, NY. From luxury communities to historic beachfront enclaves, the story will follow the brewing feud between the ‘Brittons’ and the ‘Johnsons,’ where the difference between old and new money is very apparent.
The star-studded cast includes Lamman Rucker, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Elise Neal, Brian White, Karon Riley, Mike Merrill, Blac Chyna, Aaron Spears, Daya Vaidya, Cameo Sherrell, Franklin Ojeda Smith, Jordan Smith, Jennifer Freeman, and David Andrews.
Rucker plays Anthony Johnson. Anthony is considered the next big thing in the tech world. He’s the handsome CEO of Sydney Tech, a company he built from the ground up. The Johnsons are new to the Black Hamptons, having summered there for five years and still feel like outsiders.
Neal is Anthony, Sydney Johnson. Sydney is a true Brooklyn girl who has helped Anthony build his business. When it comes to her husband and kids, she is fiercely protective and is not intimidated by the Brittons.
Blac Chyna is Karrin, Sydney’s younger sister who has always relied on other people to finance her lavish lifestyle. She unexpectedly shows up at the Johnson’s house much to Anthony’s displeasure.
Calloway is Carolyn Britton, matriarch of the Britton family. Carolyn is head of Amistad Bank and Trust, the largest minority- owned bank. Her family has owned their estate for three generations and consider themselves the “first family” of the Black Hamptons.
Blackfilmandtv.com’s Wilson Morales caught up with Rucker, Calloway, Neal and Chyna as they spoke the series and their experience in the Hamptons or Martha’s Vineyard.
