Exclusive: Lovecraft Country’s Wunmi Mosaku & Gangs Of London’s Sope Dirisu Talk Horror Thriller ‘His House’
Coming out this week on Netflix (Oct. 30) is writer-director Remi Weeks’ horror film ‘His House’ starring Lovecraft Country Wunmi Mosaku, Gangs of London's Ṣope Dìrísù and Doctor Who’s Matt Smith. The film had its world premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.
After making a harrowing escape from war-torn South Sudan, young refugee couple Bol (Dirisu) and Rial (Mosaku )struggle to adjust to their new life in a small English town that has an unspeakable evil lurking beneath the surface.
Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù is best known for his role in Sky Atlantic's Gangs of London, which is currently in the US on AMC. The British-Nigerian actor has also appeared in Black Mirror's 'Nosedive' episode, The Huntsman: Winter's War with Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron, Sand Castle with Nicholas Hoult and Henry Cavill, and the action thriller Criminal.
Most recently, Mosaku had a breakout role in HBO’s Lovecraft Country. Besides her film role in Zeresenay Berhane Mehari’s Sweetness in the Belly, Mosaku has an extensive amount of TV credits including Law & Order: UK, Dancing on the Edge, Black Mirror’s ‘Playtest’ episode, the TV film Damilola, Our Loved Boy for which she won the 2017 BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actress, and Luther opposite Idris Elba.
Both Mosaku and Dirisu spoke with BlackFilmandTV.com’s Wilson Morales about working on this psychological thriller, and working with Weeks on his first film.
