Coming out this week on is the biopic on Gospel legend Marvin Sapp, Never Would Have Made It: The Marvin Sapp Story, which premieres Sunday, August 21st at 9/8c on TV One.
Chaz Lamar Shepherd (“Marvel’s Luke Cage”, “The Game”) will star as Marvin Sapp with Ambre Anderson (“Power Book II” “Manifest Evil”) joining him as Sapp’s wife, MaLinda Prince Sapp. The biopic chronicles the prominent gospel music artist and preacher’s Michigan upbringing, battle against teenage alcohol abuse, love for MaLinda Prince, rise in the music industry, and growth in his faith. Sapp is widely known for his award-winning, chart-topping crossover hit "Never Would Have Made It."
Never Would Have Made It: The Marvin Sapp Story is directed by Russ Parr and produced for TV One by Swirl Films, with Eric F. Tomosunas, James Seppelfrick, and Keith Neal serving as Executive Producers. Additionally, Marvin Sapp and Phil Thornton are Executive Producers.
Sapp’s massive hit song, “Never Would Have Made It,” is currently viral on TikTok and even in nightclubs. Marvin Sapp recorded with the group Commissioned during the 1990s before beginning a record-breaking solo career – which birthed hit songs like “Perfect Peace,” “The Best In Me” and “Thirsty.”
Currently, he is an author, radio show host and senior pastor of The Chosen Vessel Cathedral in Dallas, Texas and pastor emeritus of Lighthouse Full Life Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan - the church he founded with his late wife.
