Exclusive: Max Thieriot and Jordan Calloway talk Fire Country Season 2

Premiering this week is the critically acclaimed series Fire Country on Friday, Feb. 16 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. It will also be streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs).

FIRE COUNTRY stars Max Thieriot as Bode Leone, a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining a prison release firefighting program in Northern California, where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region. It’s a high-risk, high-reward assignment, and the heat is turned up when Bode is assigned to the program in his rural hometown, where he was once a golden all-American son until his troubles began. Five years ago, Bode burned down everything in his life, leaving town with a big secret. Now he’s back, with the rap sheet of a criminal and the audacity to believe in a chance for redemption with Cal Fire.

The cast includes Billy Burke as Vince Leone, who plays Bode’s father as well as the Cal Fire Battalion Chief. Kevin Alejandro as Manny Perez, and Stephanie Arcila, Bode's love interest Gabriella, will return. Diane Farr, Jules Latimer, Sabina Gadecki, Jordan Calloway, and Michael Trucco will also reprise their roles. The new season will also reveal new characters as Rafael De La Fuente plays Diego, a paramedic and a firefighter, and Morena Baccarin will guest star as Sheriff Mickey.

Max Thieriot co-wrote and produces Fire Country with Jerry Bruckheimer Television. The show is inspired by his experiences growing up in Northern California. He previously appeared in the hit military drama series Seal Team for Paramount+ opposite David Boreanaz. Thieriot made his television series debut playing Norman Bates’ (Freddie Highmore) brother, Dylan Massett, on the series Bates Motel. He also played Jack Hays in the miniseries Texas Rising and co-starred in Texas Rangers opposite Bill Paxton. Additional credits include “The Pacifier,” “Nancy Drew,” “Jumper,” “Kit Kittredge: An American Girl,” “Chloe,” “My Soul to Take” and the horror film “House at the End of the Street.”

Jordan Calloway plays Jake, a firefighter and Bode’s former best friend. Calloway previously played the dual role of Khalil/Painkiller for four seasons on CW’s Black Lightning. He also portrayed Chuck Clayton on CW’s Riverdale and headlined the features Countdown and Always a Bridesmaid. Additional TV credits include Beyond, House of Lies and Pure Genius on the Network.

Blackfilmandtv.com’s Wilson Morales spoke with Thieriot and Calloway on what to expect on Season 2 of Fire Country.
