Now playing on Hulu is the eight-episode series Nine Perfect Strangers, which stars Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale, Regina Hall, Samara Weaving, Melvin Gregg, Asher Keddie, Grace Van Patten, Tiffany Boone and Manny Jacinto.

Based on The New York Times bestselling book by author Liane Moriarty, “Nine Perfect Strangers” takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation as nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living. Watching over them during this 10-day retreat is the resort’s director, Masha, a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine “perfect” strangers have no idea what is about to hit them.

McCarthy, who also serves as a executive producer on the series, and Hall play two of the strangers Frances Welty and Carmel Schneider respectively.

McCarthy also starred and served as Executive Producer on “Thunder Force” with Octavia Spencer. She’s been Oscar nominated twice for her roles in “Bridesmaids” and “Can You Ever Forgive Me?”. Her upcoming projects include Ted Melfi’s, “The Starling,” as well as Netflix’s documentary, “Bob Ross: Happy Accidents,” and “Betrayal & Greed,” directed by Joshua Rofe. Melissa is currently shooting Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”, the highly anticipated live-action remake of the children’s classic movie.

Hall was most recently seen as Dawn Towner in Season 3 of the hit Showtime comedy series “Black Monday,” opposite Don Cheadle. On the film side, she starred in Tate Taylor’s thriller “Breaking News in Yuba County,” and will star and executive produce the upcoming occult drama “Master.” Hall recently launched her production company Rh Negative and signed a six movie slate deal with ViacomCBS’ Entertainment & Youth Group.

Both McCarthy and Hall spoke with BlackFilmandTV.com’s Wilson Morales about working together in a project that’s non-comedic.
