Exclusive: Naturi Naughton talks playing a lesbian, former drug addict, and rapper in Queens

Currently playing on ABC is the hip hop drama series Queens, starring Eve, Naturi Naughton, Nadine Velazquez and Brandy.

“Queens” follows four women in their 40s who reunite for a chance to recapture their fame and regain the swagger they had in the ’90s when they were legends in the hip-hop world.

“Queens” stars Eve as Brianna aka Professor Sex, Naturi Naughton as Jill aka Da Thrill, Nadine Velazquez as Valeria aka Butter Pecan, Taylor Sele as Eric Jones, Pepi Sonuga as Lil Muffin and Brandy as Naomi aka Xplicit Lyrics.

For Naturi Naughton, who plays Jill aka Da Thrill, she’s never unemployed for a period of time. From her singing career with 3LW to films, which led to Notorious, in which she played Lil' Kim, she has since starred in the NBC series The Playboy Club. That was followed by series regular role in season one of the Lifetime television drama series The Client List. Then came the dubious role of Tasha St. Patrick in the Starz hit series Power, which led to her reprising role in the spinoff series Power Book II: Ghost.

With Queens, she plays a church lady, wife, lesbian, former drug addict and rapper aiming for a comeback. Talk about a juicy role! In speaking with BlackFilmandTV.com’s Wilson Morales, Naughton goes over flexing her muscles again in the rap world after being away from it for years.
