Exclusive: Patrick Wilson on directing and starring in Insidious: The Red Door
Now in theaters from Sony Pictures is the horror thriller Insidious: The Red Door, directed by and starring Patrick Wilson in his directorial debut. Wilson returns alongside Ty Simpkins, Rose Byrne, and Andrew Astor. Also starring is Sinclair Daniel and Hiam Abbass. Insidious: The Red Door is the fifth movie in the Insidious series - following Insidious: The Last Key from 2018.
In the sequel Insidious: The Red Door, the horror franchise's original cast returns for the final chapter of the Lambert family's terrifying saga. To put their demons to rest once and for all, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and a college-aged Dalton (Ty Simpkins) must go deeper into The Further than ever before, facing their family's dark past and a host of new and more horrifying terrors that lurk behind the red door.
Based on characters created by Leigh Whannell, the screenplay is written by Scott Teems, from a story by Leigh Whannell. The film was produced by Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell.
Besides the Insidious film series (2010–present), Wilson is also best known as demonologist Ed Warren in The Conjuring universe (2013–present). He will next reprise his role this year as Orm Marius / Ocean Master in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, a role he started in Aquaman (2018).
