Among the film that played at the 2023 Tribeca Festival and aow playing on Hulu is Onyx Collective’s new documentary Anthem, a musical journey across America to reimagine our national anthem, executive produced by Ryan Coogler, and directed by Emmy award-winning documentarian Peter Nicks. The film is hosted by composer Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, Green Book, Dear White People) and record producer Dahi

Reflecting upon “The Star-Spangled Banner,” Anthem follows acclaimed composer Kris Bowers (“Bridgerton,” “When They See Us,” “King Richard”) and GRAMMY®-winning music producer Dahi (Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Drake) as they take a musical journey traveling across America to create a new sound, inspired by what our country’s national anthem might be if written in today’s time.

Anthem is produced by Proximity Media and This Machine. Peter Nicks serves as director and producer via Proximity Media, alongside producers Kris Bowers, Sean Havey, Chris L. Jenkins and Proximity Media’s Ryan Coogler.

Nicks recently directed Stephen Curry: Underrated, which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. He also directed the documentary Homeroom, which was executive produced by Coogler. In 2007, he won an Emmy Award in 2007 for Outstanding Feature Story in a News Magazine for 2006 episode "Blame Somebody Else" of PBS series AIR: America's Investigative Reports.
