Exclusive: Producer Lawrence Grey and Director David Yates talk Pain Hustlers

Currently in theaters and coming to Netflix on Oct. 27 is Pain Hustlers, directed by David Yates and starring Emily Blunt, Chris Evans, Catherine O’Hara, Chloe Coleman, Jay Duplass, Brian d’Arcy James, Amit Shah, Aubrey Dollar, Willie Raysor and Andy Garcia. Based on the book by Evan Hughes, Wells Tower wrote the screenplay with Lawrence Grey and David Yates serving as producers.

Liza Drake (Emily Blunt) is a blue-collar single mom who has just lost her job and is at the end of her rope. A chance meeting with pharmaceutical sales rep Pete Brenner (Chris Evans) puts her on an upwards trajectory economically but dubious path ethically as she becomes entangled in a dangerous racketeering scheme. Dealing with her increasingly unhinged boss (Andy Garcia), the worsening medical condition of her daughter (Chloe Coleman), and a growing awareness of the devastation the company is causing forces Liza to examine her choices. Pain Hustlers is a sharp and revealing look at what some people do out of desperation and others do out of greed.

Grey previously produced David F. Sandberg’s Lights Out, Steven Soderbergh’s The Laundromat, and Miguel Arteta’s Yes Day.

Yates is known for directing films such as The Young Visiters, The Girl in the Café, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix / Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, / Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 & 2, The Legend of Tarzan, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
