Exclusive: Shahadi Wright Joseph & Melody Hurd talk Amazon Series 'Them'
Premiering Friday, April 9th exclusively on Prime Video is its new terror anthology series, Them.
From breakout creator Little Marvin and executive producer Lena Waithe, Them is a limited anthology series that explores terror in America. The 1950s set first season centers on a Black family who moves from North Carolina to an all-white Los Angeles neighborhood during the period known as The Great Migration. The family's idyllic home becomes ground zero where malevolent forces, next-door and otherworldly, threaten to taunt, ravage and destroy them.
Them stars Deborah Ayorinde, Ashley Thomas, Alison Pill, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Melody Hurd, and Ryan Kwanten.
Joseph and Hurd play their children. Joseph is Ruby Lee Emory. Described as a starlet in the making. Ruby is an intelligent, studious 14 year-old and the apple of her father’s eye. Hurd is Gracie Emory, a strong, willful, and fiercely independent 6-year-old firecracker who takes after her mother.
Joseph had a breakout year in 2019, starring in both Jordan Peele’s “Us” and the remake of “The Lion King.” Hurd most recently wrapped the feature “Fatherhood,” with her previous credits including the short film “Battle at Big Rock” directed by Colin Trevorrow.
