Exclusive: Simon Pegg talks Apple TV+ animated film ‘Luck’

Now playing on Apple TV+ is the Apple Original Film by Skydance Animation LUCK, featuring the voices of Eva Noblezada, Simon Pegg, Jane Fonda, Whoopi Goldberg, Flula Borg, Lil Rel Howery, Colin O'Donoghue, and John Ratzenberger.

The story centers on Sam Greenfield (Eva Noblezada), the unluckiest person in the world, who when she stumbles into the never-before-seen Land of Luck, sets out on a quest to bring some good luck home for her best friend. But with humans not allowed her only chance is teaming up with the magical creatures who live there to do it. “Luck” premieres globally on Apple TV+ on August 5.

The film is directed by Peggy Holmes (“Secret of the Wings”). The screenplay is written by Kiel Murray (“Raya and the Last Dragon,” “Cars”). It is produced by David Eisenmann (“Toy Story 3”), David Ellison (“Top Gun: Maverick”), Dana Goldberg (“The Adam Project”) and Academy Award winner John Lasseter (“Toy Story”). The music is by Academy Award nominee John Debney (“The Passion of the Christ”).

Best known for his British comedies “Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz,” as well as his role as Montgomery Scott (“Scotty”) in “Star Trek,” “Star Trek: Into Darkness,” and “Star Trek Beyond,” Pegg is no stranger to the animation world. He voiced the role of “Buck” in both “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs,” “Ice Age: Collision Course,” and “The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild.” He will next be seen reprising his role as Benji Dunn in “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.”
