Exclusive: Skye P. Marshall talks CBS Medical Drama 'Good Sam’

Currently airing on Wednesdays at 10 PM ET on CBS is the medical drama ‘Good Sam’ starring Sophia Bush and Jason Isaacs. Also featured in the series are Skye P. Marshall (Dr. Lex Trulie), Michael Stahl-David (Dr. Caleb Tucker), Omar Maskati (Dr. Isan M. Shah), Davi Santos (Dr. Joey Costa), Wendy Crewson (Vivian Katz) Edwin Hodge (Malcolm A. Kingsley).

The series centers on Dr. Sam Griffith, a gifted heart surgeon who excels in her new leadership role as chief of surgery after her renowned boss falls into a coma. When her former boss wakes up months later demanding to resume his duties, Sam is tasked with supervising this egotistical expert with a scalpel who never acknowledged her stellar talent. Complicating matters, the caustic and arrogant Dr. Rob “Griff” Griffith also happens to be her father. As Griff defies Sam’s authority and challenges her medical expertise, the big question becomes whether this father and daughter will ever be able to mend their own relationship as expertly as they heal the hearts of their patients.

Marshall stars as Dr. Lex Trulie, an equally gifted surgeon, who finds herself caught in the crossfire between Sam, her best friend, and Dr. Griffith. Despite the lack of family support, Dr. Trulie defies the odds and excels as the only Black surgeon at Lakeshore Sentinel Hospital. She is also one of two women in her department.

Prior to entering the Hollywood spotlight, Skye served pre and post 9/11, and also has experience working in the medical field, which came in hand when playing a medical professional. Her other TV credits include 8 Days a Week, Love Handles, Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart, Black Lightning, The Fix, This is Us, 9-1-1, and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Blackfilmandtv.com’s Wilson Morales caught up with Marshall as she spoke about her role, being in the military, and her castmates.
