Foundation Season 2 cast interviews
Now playing on Apple TV+ is the second season of Foundation, which stars an acclaimed ensemble cast led by Emmy Award nominees Jared Harris and Lee Pace, alongside rising stars Lou Llobell and Leah Harvey. The 10-episode second season of “Foundation” aired globally with the first episode on Friday, July 14, followed by new episodes weekly every Friday through September 15.
Based on Isaac Asimov’s award-winning stories, the monumental adaptation of “Foundation” chronicles a band of exiles on their unprecedented journey to rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire. Crucial individuals transcending space and time are faced with deadly crises, shifting loyalties and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity.
In the second season of “Foundation,” more than a century has passed since the season one finale and tension continues to mount throughout the galaxy. As the Cleons unravel, a vengeful queen plots to destroy Empire from within. And Hari, Gaal and Salvor discover a colony of Mentalics with psionic abilities that threaten to alter psychohistory itself. The Foundation has entered its religious phase, promulgating the Church of Seldon throughout the Outer Reach and inciting the Second Crisis: war with Empire.
Season two of “Foundation” also stars returning cast members Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton and Terrence Mann and introduces new characters and stars, including Isabella Laughland (‘Brother Constant’), Kulvinder Ghir (‘Poly Verisof’), Ella-Rae Smith (‘Queen Sareth of Cloud Dominion'), Holt McCallany (‘Warden Jaegger Fount’), Rachel House (‘Tellem Bond’), Nimrat Kaur (‘Yanna Seldon’), Ben Daniels (‘Bel Riose’) and Dimitri Leonidas (‘Hober Mallow’).
Lou Llobell’s breakout role as ‘Gaal Dornick’ in the first season of “Foundation” won her international attention, resonating with audiences around the world. Previous to filming “Foundation,” Llobell appeared as ‘Zandie’ in the sci-fi feature “Voyagers,” which released theatrically on April 9, 2021.
Pace was recently seen in the thriller “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” alongside Pete Davidson, Amanda Stenberg and Maria Bakalova. He’s best known for starring as ‘Thranduil the Elvenking’ in Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit” trilogy and as intergalactic villain Ronan the Accuser in the blockbuster Marvel film “Guardians of the Galaxy,” a role he reprised in “Captain Marvel.” Other notable credits include “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” “Driven,” “Lincoln,” “A Single Man,” “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day,” “Infamous” and “The Good Shepherd.” On the small screen, Pace is most notable for his starring role in Bryan Fuller’s award-winning and critically acclaimed series “Pushing Daisies,” and as ‘Joe MacMillan’ in four seasons of the period television series “Halt and Catch Fire.”
Finnish actress Laura Birn, who plays Demerzel, has been featured in films such as “Purge,” “The Ones Below,” “Void” and “Helene” among others. Birn has won the Finnish Film Award as well as the Finnish Television Award and State Prize for Cinema, and she was chosen for the prestigious Shooting Star Award at the Berlin Film Festival.
Harris, who plays Hari Seldon, is ‘Hari Seldon’ is Golden Globe and Emmy nominee, and SAG and BAFTA Award winner. Harris recently starred in Marvel’s “Morbius,” directed by Daniel Espinosa. Harris’ extensive film and TV career includes the award-winning miniseries “Chernobyl”; the decade defining series “Mad Men”; “The Crown”; the critically acclaimed cult series “The Terror”; Steven Spielberg’s Academy Award-nominated biopic, “Lincoln”; ‘Professor Moriarty’ in Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”; and the outrageously tattooed ‘Captain Mike’ in David Fincher’s Academy Award- nominated 2008 film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”
