Exclusive: Meagan Good, Jerrie Johnson talk Amazon New Comedy Series ‘Harlem’
Now playing on Amazon Prime is the new comedy series Harlem, starring Meagan Good, Grace Byers, Shoniqua Shandai, Jerrie Johnson and Tyler Lepley.
Created, written, and executive produced by Tracy Oliver, Harlem is a new comedy following a group of stylish and ambitious best girlfriends in Harlem, New York City, the mecca of Black culture in America. Camille is a popular young anthropology professor at Columbia who has an extensive knowledge of the dating norms of many cultures, but has a hard time navigating her own love life; Tye is a successful, queer dating-app creator who prefers keeping vulnerability—and romantic partners—at arm’s length; Quinn is a hopeless romantic and trust-fund fashion designer who is trying to give back to the world while running a struggling business; Angie is a confident, vibrant, and filter-free singer and actress who also lives rent-free and fabulously with Quinn. Together, they level up from their 20s into the next phase of their careers, relationships, and big city dreams.
Best known for her roles in a bounty of films including Eve’s Bayou, Biker Boyz, Waist Deep, the Fox’s series MINORITY REPORT, The Intruder, SHAZAM!, and Monster Hunter, Good also directed her first film, If Not Now, When? as well as published her first book “The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love,” which she co-wrote with her husband, DeVon Franklin.
Johnson is a 2019 M.F.A. graduate from the American Conservatory Theater San Francisco. Her previous credits include her role of Titania in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at CalShakes and her self-written solo show “The Crooked Room” during the National Queer Arts Festival. She will next be seen recurring on Freeform’s Good Trouble.
BlackfimandTV.com correspondent Danteé Ramos spoke with the cast on how they navigate their 30's, their lessons in their 20's and much more.
