Vicaria is a brilliant teenager who believes death is a disease that can be cured. After the brutal and sudden murder of her brother, she embarks on a dangerous journey to bring him back to life. Inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, "The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster" thematically challenges our ideas of life and death. Bomani J. Story, the film's writer and director, crafts a thrilling tale about a family that, despite the terrors of systemic pressure, will survive and be reborn again.

Bomani J. Story makes his directorial debut with a reimagining of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, "The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster", a classic literary horror story filmed through a modern lens. Previously, Story wrote the feature "Rock Steady Row" which World Premiered at the 2018 Slamdance Film Festival where it won the Grand Jury and Audience Award for Best Feature Film.

Laya DeLeon Hayes currently stars opposite Queen Latifah on the CBS series “The Equalizer,” and is perhaps best known for voicing the titular role in the BAFTA, Emmy and Peabody Award-nominated animated series, “Doc McStuffins,” which earned her a NAACP Image Award nomination. Denzel Whitaker is best known for his award-winning role in “The Great Debaters,” performing opposite of his two namesakes, Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker. Other notable projects include playing a young Zuri in Ryan Coogler’s “Black Panther,” Rza’s “Cut Throat City,” and Werner Herzog's “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans.”

Chad L. Coleman is best known for his role as fanfavorite ‘Tyreese’ in the Golden Globe nominated series “The Walking Dead” and as the reformed criminal “Dennis ‘Cutty’ Wise” in Emmy award nominated HBO drama series “The Wire.” Coleman currently stars in Seth MacFarlane’s hour-long comedy-drama series “The Orville.” He also recently starred in the leading role in TV One’s holiday film “A Christmas Prayer” and will next be seen in the upcoming third season of The CW’s “Superman & Lois” playing the infamous DC villain Bruno Mannheim.
