Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s Joseph Marcel talks The Exorcism of God & Bel-Air
Currently playing in Theaters, On Demand and Digital is the horror film The Exorcism of God, directed by Alejandro Hidalgo (The House at the End of Time) from a script by Santiago Fernández Calvete (Sangre Vurdalak) and Hidalgo.
The film stars Joseph Marcell ("The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"), María Gabriela de Faría ("The Moodys", "Deadly Class"), Will Beinbrink (It Chapter Two, "Dark"), Hector Kotsifakis ("Malverde: El Santo Patrón"), and Irán Castillo ("SOS Me estoy enamorando").
Father Peter Williams, an American exorcist, hides a shocking secret: possessed by a demon he was trying to expel, he committed a terrible sacrilege. To atone for this sin, Peter devotes his life to charity work in a small town in Mexico. Eighteen years later, his deeply buried secret comes to light when the demon from his past returns, possessing a girl and unleashing a deadly disease. Now Peter must choose between saving his own soul and saving the people he loves most in one final, epic battle against the evil within.
Best known for his role as Geoffrey Butler, the butler on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Marcel plays another priest in the film who helps Father Williams fight the demons. While he’s done numerous guest appearances on TV shows and appeared in several films, his passion has always been performing on the stage. Among his theater credits are King Lear, Gem of the Ocean, and The Tempest.
Blackfilmandtv.com’s Wilson Morales caught up with Marcel as he spoke about his role in the film and what he makes of Bel-Air, the re-imagination of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
