Chris Rock To Direct And Star In Misty Green For Macro Film Studios & Confluential Films
Chris Rock (Top Five, “Fargo,” Rustin) will direct Misty Green in which he will also star. Peter Rice and Rock will produce alongside James Lopez for MACRO Film Studios and Tommy Oliver for Confluential Films. Executive producers are Charles D. King for MACRO Film Studios and Codie Elaine Oliver for Confluential Films.
NEON International will represent the foreign rights and introduce it at AFM next week while CAA Media Finance will represent the domestic rights.
Based on an original script by Rock, Misty Green follows Misty who is an undeniably talented actress, but her vices have derailed every attempt to revitalize her career. Her best opportunity in ages arrives in the form of Jordan (Rock), a film director with the perfect role for her – were it not for their contentious past. Additional casting is underway.
Rock made his big screen debut in Beverly Hills Cop II following years as a stand-up comic and spent three years as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live.” In 2014, he led the ensemble cast of Top Five, a critically acclaimed comedy feature that he also wrote and directed. Rock also directed, wrote and starred in Head of State and I Think I Love My Wife. His other film credits include Rustin, David O’Russell’s Amsterdam, The Week Of, the Grown Ups and Madagascar franchises, 2 Days in New York, Death at a Funeral, Nurse Betty, Dogma, the hip-hop comedy CB4, and New Jack City. Rock serves as Executive Producer and narrator of “Everybody Still Hates Chris,” a reimagined animated version of his beloved autobiographical family comedy “Everybody Hates Chris,” which airs on Paramount+ and Comedy Central. Rock has won four Emmy Awards, three Grammy Awards, and is a New York Times Best-Selling Author.
