Delroy Lindo Joins Mahershala Ali In Marvel’s Blade

Deadline is reporting that Delroy Lindo has joined the cast of Marvel’s Blade.

The actor will star alongside Mahershala Ali, who is playing the titular Blade. It’s currently unknown who Lindo will play, and his casting is the only other confirmed one since Ali’s announcement that he would be Blade at Comic-Con two years ago. However, both Ali and Lindo are high-profile actors, so their inclusion in the film is sure to boost the excitement around it.

A frequent collaborator of Spike Lee, Lindo has appeared in a variety of films, most recently in Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, for which he won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actor. Lindo has also had roles in Malcolm XGet ShortyCrooklynClockers, and Gone in 60 Seconds. He’s also starred in CBS’ The Good Fight for four seasons, as well as having worked in the world of theatre since the 1970s.

Blade will be directed by Bassam Tariq, with a script written by playwright Stacy Osei-Kuffour. Not too much else is known about the upcoming film, but the character of Blade was technically already introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ali appeared during one of the post-credit sequences in the recently released Eternals, showing up in voice only to briefly talk to Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman.
