Erica Peeples and Amber-Tai Hemphill cast in director Mann Robinson’s New Thriller - Cell Phone

Erica Peeples and Amber-Tai Hemphill have been cast in director Mann Robinson’s new action-packed thriller, Cell Phone. Production will start this August.

The film centers on Cynthia Samuels (Erica Peeples), who is wrongly convicted for the murder of her husband.  After waiting five long years for her appeal, she thinks that she is finally on her way home to reunite with her daughter. That is until she receives a phone call that may ruin her chances. What follows is an epic journey of discovery and suspense.

Hemphill will play Cynthia’s sister, Rose.

The film is produced by Robinson from his Mann Robinson Studios shingle.

Peoples is a Juilliard alum best known for her role as Mo on The CW’s All American. She’s also starred in the indie film trilogy True to the Game, based on Teri Woods’ New York Times bestselling novel series, and in Netflix’s Fall Girls. She was last seen in the psychological thriller Trophy Wife and the BET+ series Haus of Vicious.

Hemphill’s film credits include Dating Covid, Love Won't Let Me Wait and Lord, All Men Can't Be Dogs.

Robinson’s recent film credits include Super Turnt, the sequel to his 2020 autobiographical Turnt, and the horror film Sebastian. He also directed, produced, co-wrote and co-stars in the TV series On Ten.
