Filmmaker Antwand Pearman Wins Awards At 2021 American Film Awards (AFA) and The Hip Hop Film Festival (HHFF)

Very recently, New York Filmmaker Antwand Pearman won awards at both the 2021 American Film Awards (AFA) and The Hip Hop Film Festival (HHFF). His film ‘The Musical Adventures of Afro Banzai’ won Best Feature at the 2021 America Film Awards and Best Soundtrack at the 2021 Hip Hop Film Festival.

His other film Selfie #voodoochallenge won Best Thriller at the 2021 Hip Hop Film Festival and Best Screenplay at the 2021 The Red Script, a short screenplay competition which rewards the art of the short with cash prizes, and a chance to be produced by experienced filmmakers.

The Musical Adventures of Afro Banzai is the continuation of a legacy piece created by Antwand Pearman. It details the experiences of several young, witty, and musically talented individuals who receive an invitation to a mystical music school. There they take on various challenges to help unlock their hidden musical potential.

As an animated feature, it takes the imagination to new heights. Mr. Pearman’s vision for this series is a visual and musical collaboration of modern and historic work that is not missing for storied content.

Antwand Pearman is the inspiration behind the artistic and award-winning films: The Musical Adventures of Afro Banzai & Selfie #voodoochallenge. He is the Co-Founder of Happy Mercs Productions LLC.  Mr. Pearman’s most recent accolades have successfully highlighted his extraordinary sense of storytelling.

His non-traditional approach in Selfie refreshes the viewing experience. The use of “point of view” filming has skirted the film industry with varying popularity. Selfie’s unique use of “point of view” filming exhibits a quality of care that still maintains the integrity of the story and showcasing the producer’s vision. This curated piece, entered into several film competitions, has currently won Best Thriller at the 2021 Hip Hop Film Festival and Best Screenplay at The Red Script.
