Hayley Law, Keith Powers To Star In Avan Jogia’s Directorial Debut ‘Door Mouse’
Actor Avan Jogia’s feature writing and directing debut Door Mouse has officially wrapped production in Canada. The project, which started Principal Photography on April 12th, stars Hayley Law (CW’s “Riverdale”, Netflix’s “Altered Carbon”) and Keith Powers (The Tomorrow War, Straight Outta Compton). Famke Janssen (Redeeming Love, When They See Us, X-Men) and Donal Logue (The Cloverfield Paradox, Zodiac) are also set.
Kyle Mann (The New Romantic) from Independent Edge and Jason Ross Jallet (Two Lovers and a Bear) from Cause and Effect Entertainment are producing, with JoBro Productions Jonathan Bronfman (The Witch), Drive Films, Michael Risley (The New Romantic), Goldush Entertainment's Eric Gozlan (A Score to Settle, Most Wanted), and Nathan Klingher (One Way, Supercell) executive producing. Highland Film Group are handling worldwide sales.
Door Mouse is a Stylish Neo-Noir Thriller about a woman named Mouse (Hayley Law) who is stuck, in a dead-end job, doing nothing with her life and going nowhere. She works at Mama's Burlesque Club all night, where her boss Mama (Famke Janssen) encourages her to pursue her real passion of making comics. When a friend from work named Doe-Eyes goes missing and the cops do nothing about it, Mouse and her sidekick Ugly (Keith Powers) take it upon themselves to find out what happened to her. What they discover is that corruption runs deep, monsters are real, and that sometimes, justice is meant to be taken into your own hands.
Door Mouse re-teams Jogia and Law with Kyle Mann and Jason Jallet, the producers of their film The New Romantic, which won the SXSW 2018 Special Jury Award. Additional Funding came from Telefilm Canada, Northern Ontario Heritage Fund, and Ontario Creates.
Jogia will next be seen acting as Leon S. Kennedy. in the upcoming Resident Evil reboot for Sony, and last year he appeared in the Zombieland sequel with Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Jesse Eisenberg, as well has having lead films and TV shows for over a decade. He recently published a poetry book called Mixed Feelings which he toured across the country.
Law stars in the forthcoming feature Mark, Mary & Some Other People from writer/director Hannah Marks. Law recently starred in Echo Boomers, opposite Michael Shannon for Saban Films. Law also starred in both seasons one and two of Netflix’s ambitious sci-fi drama “Altered Carbon,” opposite Joel Kinnaman and Anthony Mackie. Law first established a passionate fan following as ‘Valerie Brown,’ an original member of Josie and the Pussycats, on the first two seasons of the hit series Riverdale. Law was recently announced to return to the hit series this season.
Powers will soon be seen in the sci-fi thriller The Tomorrow War opposite Chris Pratt, from Amazon, Paramount and Skydance, the Netflix feature The Perfect Find starring opposite Gabrielle Union, and On Our Way opposite Micheál Richardson. Powers is known for his roles in F. Gary Gray’s Straight Outta Compton, and the Netflix anthology series “What/If” from EP Robert Zemeckis, opposite Renée Zellweger.
Janssen is currently filming the upcoming Spectrum Original series “Long Slow Exhale”. Famke recently shot Dangerous alongside Mel Gibson and Scott Eastwood for Lionsgate as well as Redeeming Love for director DJ Caruso. She has recently been seen starring in Ava Duvernay's BAFTA Award winning series “When They See Us” on Netflix and on the BBC and Peacock’s series “The Capture”. Famke is best known for her leading roles in the Bond Film: Goldeneye, X-Men as Jean Grey/Phoenix, and the Taken trilogy opposite Liam Neeson.
Logue will next be seen in the upcoming Resident Evil reboot for Sony as well as Season 2 of Departure on Peacock. He most recently starred alongside Alison Pill in the feature drama All My Puny Sorrows and opposite Anna Kendrick in Quibi’s Dummy. Logue’s credits also include starring in five seasons of Gotham on Fox, the Sundance Film Festival winner The Tao of Steve, and Blade with Wesley Snipes. Logue also co-authored Danny Trejo’s memoir, My Life of Crime, Redemption and Hollywood, which will be released in July by Simon and Schuster.
