Lionsgate Pulls Janelle Monáe Horror Movie ‘Antebellum’ From 2020 Theatrical Calendar
After pushing its release date from April 24 to Aug, 21 due to the pandemic crisis, Lionsgate has now decided to pull the Janelle Monáe horror movie ‘Antebellum’ from its 2020 theatrical calendar. With theaters yet to open and major studios moving films like Tenet and Mulan to later dates, it’s a wise decision on Lionsgate’s part.
Written and directed Gerard Bush & Christopher Renz, the film stars Janelle Monáe in her first leading role.
From the producers of “Us” and “Get Out” (QC Entertainment’s Ray Mansfield and Sean McKittrick) as well as Zev Foreman and Lezlie Wills, Monáe stars opposite Kiersey Clemons, Jena Malone, Jack Huston, Gabourey Sidibe, Marque Richardson, Eric Lange, Tongayi Chirisa, Robert Aramayo, & Lily Cowles.
Monáe will star as successful author Veronica Henley, who is desperately trying to flee her captors – and finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality, leading her on a perilous journey causing her to question everything about her past, present, and future. She must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late.
Other producers also include Gerard Bush, Christopher Renz, Zev Foreman, and Lezlie Wills.
