Michael B. Jordan Set to Make Directorial Debut With Creed III

In an interview with with MTV’s Josh Horowitz, Tessa Thompson has confirmed reports that Michael B. Jordan will make his directorial debut with the upcoming third installment, Creed III. Zach Baylin, the writer behind King Richard, the story of Venus and Serena Williams’s father and coach, wrote the script.

Jordan will be taking from Ryan Coogler and Steven Caple Jr. who directed the first and second films, respectively. He will also reprise his role as boxer Adonis Creed, son of Apollo Creed.

Tessa Thompson, who plays Creed’s love interest, Bianca, said filming is planned for 2021. No word if Sylvester Stallone will come back to play Rocky Balboa, but you can expect him to be one of the producers on the project. After all, this would be the ninth installment in the Rocky franchise, going back to 1976’s Rocky.

Creed went on to gross $173 million at the box office with Stallone nabbing a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination. Creed II took in $214 at the box office.
