Netflix to release ‘Shirley’ Chisholm Film starring Oscar Winner Regina King in March; First Look Photos

Netflix has announced that it will release Shirley, starring Oscar winner Regina King, on March 22.

Written and directed by Oscar winner John Ridley (12 Years a Slave), the film tells the story of the first black Congresswoman and political icon, Shirley Chisholm, and her trailblazing run for president of the U.S. It chronicles her audacious, boundary-breaking 1972 presidential campaign.

Joining King in the film are Lance Reddick, Lucas Hedges, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Christina Jackson, Michael Cherrie, Dorian Crossmond Missick, Amirah Vann, W. Earl Brown, Brad James, Reina King with André Holland and Terrence Howard

Ridley is producing alongside Anikah McLaren and Elizabeth Haggard for Participant, and Regina King and Reina King for Royal Ties Productions. Jeff Skoll and Ted Gidlow are exec producing. No information on the roles to be played by the latest additions to the cast has been disclosed.
