Netflix Won't Release Halle Berry's Sci-Fi Movie 'The Mothership' With Omari Hardwick
Last week it was reported that Netflix will not be releasing Halle Berry’s sci-fi adventure film “The Mothership.” Sources said that the film’s lengthy post-production process and inability to finish was the streamer’s reason for not moving forward.
The Mothership had been in post-production since filming wrapped up in 2021. According to the InSneider newsletter, it was ultimately decided reshoots were needed, which posed a major problem since the film's child stars had aged three years.
Co-starring in the film were Omari Hardwick, Molly Parker, Sydney Lemmon, Rafael Silva, John Ortiz, and Paul Guilfoyle.
The film was set to star Berry as Sara Morse, a woman struggling to raise her kids after her husband mysteriously vanishes from their rural farm. A year after his disappearance, she discovers a strange, extra-terrestrial object underneath her home and it sends her and their kids on a race to find her missing husband.
Matthew Charman, who co-wrote Bridge of Spies with the Coen Brothers, was set to make his directorial feature debut on the project. He also wrote the script. MRC Film, who produced Knives Out and 2023's Fair Play, was a partner on the project with Netflix.
This is not the first time Berry has her films shelved. Back in 2014, Frankie & Alice was finally released long after production wrapped in 2009. Her other film Dark Tide hit video on demand two years after completion.
