Quibi Greenlights Sequel To Kevin Hart’s Die Hart
Quibi has announced it has officially ordered a sequel to the Kevin Hart-starring action comedy Die Hart.
Details regarding the follow-up are being kept close to the chest for the time being, but it’s been revealed the title for the next installment in the action comedy franchise is entitled Die Harter, with the creators and producers clearly keeping their homage to the similarly-titled Bruce Willis-starring franchise alive as its 1990 sequel was given the subtitle of Die Harder upon many home media releases.
“LOL Studios is excited to produce season 2 of Die Hart and continue our work to bring premium comedic content and new IP to market,” Jeff Clanagan, President of Laugh Out Loud, said in a statement.
In the original, Hart played a version of himself trying to step out of the role of “comedic sidekick” by going to the world’s greatest action star school. While there, the school’s lunatic director (John Travolta) and tough-minded rival student (Nathalie Emmanuel) pushed him to his limits as he was thrown into the deep end.
In addition to Hart and Travolta, the cast for the film included Jean Reno, Nathalie Emmanuel and Josh Hartnett.
Hart will continue to serve as executive producer on the second installment alongside LOL Studios’ Candice Wilson and HartBeat Productions’ Bryan Smiley, while Hart’s long-time business partner Jeff Clanagan will produce for LOL Studios.
