Searchlight Pictures to release ‘The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat’ on Aug. 23 on Hulu
Searchlight Pictures has announced that it will release “The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat” on August 23 on Hulu. Based on the 2013 New York Times best-selling novel by Edward Kelsey Moore, the film was directed by Tina Mabry and stars Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Sanaa Lathan, Uzo Aduba, Mekhi Phifer, Julian McMahon, Vondie Curtis-Hall, and Russell Hornsby.
Adapted by Cee Marcellus and Tina Mabry, the film was produced by Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, and Isaac Klausner.
THE SUPREMES AT EARL’S ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT follows a trio of best friends Odette, Barbara Jean and Clarice (Uzo Aduba, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Sanaa Lathan) known as “The Supremes” who, for decades, has weathered life’s storms together through marriage and children, happiness and blues. Now, as heartbreak and illness stir up the past and threaten to destroy their friendship, Odette, Barbara Jean and Clarice see their bond put to the test as they go through their most challenging times yet.
Also cast in the film are Kyanna Simone, Tati Gabrielle, Abigail Achiri, Dijon Means, Xavier Mills, Cleveland Berto, Ryan Paynter, Tony Winters, Raymond Greene-Joyner, and Jason Turner.
Known for her work as a writer, director and producer on “Queen Sugar,” “Pose,” “Queen of the South” and “Proven Innocent,” “The Supremes” is Mabry’s first feature film since her acclaimed directorial debut “Mississippi Damned” in 2009. In 2017, Mabry won a DGA Award and a NAACP Award for the American Girl special “Melody 1963: Love Has to Win,” which she produced and directed for Amazon
