Tyler Perry Resurrecting Madea character in "A Madea Homecoming" for Netflix

It didn’t take long for Tyler Perry to resurrect his iconic Madea character. After making what seemed to be his final screen performance as Madea in Lionsgate 2019’s feature A Madea Family Funeral, which made $75M at the global box office, Tyler Perry is coming back to play the character again for Netflix in A Madea Homecoming. No plot has been given, only that the film will be shot entirely at Tyler Perry Studios and released on Netflix in 2022.

Perry will direct and write with Will Areu and Mark Swinton producing. EPs are Perry and Michelle Sneed. Perry's films, including 11 in the Madea franchise, have grossed over 1 billion dollars at the North American box office.

Perry already has a deal with Netflix and so far he’s delivered with A Fall From Grace, which was watched by 39M households in its first month. He is also writing, directing and producing A Jazzman’s Blues for Netflix.
