Last month, 101 Studios and Soho House launched a new podcast series THE BACKSTORY. Hosted by Jason Bentley, former host of KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic and music supervisor with work on soundtracks of TOP GUN: MAVERICK and THE MATRIX franchise, THE BACKSTORY brings together two guests each episode to share in candid conversations about what drives and inspires them, with never-before-told stories about their personal histories and the projects that brought them professional acclaim.

Episode 4 features a conversation between Grammy award-winning film composer Terence Blanchard (DA 5 BLOODS) and screenwriter Kemp Powers (Disney / Pixar’s SOUL) where the two discuss Black representation in Hollywood, working with influential filmmaker Spike Lee, working together with first-time director Regina King on ONE NIGHT IN MIAMI and more.

BlackFilmandTV.com has been provided with an exclusive clip to that episode where Blanchard and Powers discuss the impact of Spike Lee. You can hear the entire podcast here.
